The Berlin-based Indie-Soul band Prismala is releasing their new album “It Gets Weirder” on June 9. With their genre-spanning sound, the band holds a mirror to the modern world and its absurdities: technology infiltrating most human spaces and understanding; climate change wreaking havoc with ever-escalating consequences; media and politics engaging in pretend-play verging on theatre; or more personal experiences like relationships and their failings and miscommunications. Unafraid to tackle these topics, the band still maintains their soulful, danceable style, experimenting with song-form and sound. Connecting old aesthetics to current palettes, their album reflects that these problems may have long been present, yet are getting enhanced exponentially by modern digitalization and infrastructures, hence the name: “It Gets Weirder”.
